Only J.J. Abrams' three Star Trek movies starring Chris Pine remain on Paramount+ as of January 1, 2024, a move that has angered Star Trek fans. The six Star Trek movies starring the cast of Star Trek: The Original Series - Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country - and the four Star Trek: The Next Generation movies - Star Trek Generations, Star Trek: First Contact, Star Trek: Insurrection, and Star Trek: Nemesis - are now streaming on Max. In a now-deleted post on X, Paramount+ Help (@askparamount) explained the jump of Star Trek movies to Max was due to "streaming rights."

Star Trek: Prodigy season 1 had an episode that featured what is likely the last appearance of the franchise's real Borg. Prodigy aired its first season, featuring the misfit crew of the USS Protostar under the guidance of a holographic Captain Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew), on Paramount+ in 2021 and 2022. Season 1 followed the Protostar crew as they attempted to return the ship to Starfleet while being pursued by their former captor, the Diviner (John Noble). Although Paramount canceled Prodigy after only one season, an audience-led campaign found the show a new streaming home on Netflix in 2023.

Star Trek: Picard season 3, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2, and Star Trek: Lower Decks season 4 released a cumulative 30 episodes, were highly acclaimed as some of the most innovative Star Trek in years, and many episodes charted in the Nielsen streaming Top 10. Armin Shimerman, who played Ferengi bartender Quark on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, says he's "grateful" for one aspect of his old Ferengi makeup. The makeup process to turn Shimerman into Quark took about two hours, and involved whole-head prosthetics, fingernails, and makeup applied to the face and hands. As a series regular, Quark's makeup also extended to the back of Shimerman's head, so Quark didn't have to wear the headdresses that fellow Ferengi Rom (Max Grodénchik) and Nog (Aron Eisenberg) did, which were designed to cover gaps in prosthetic appliances, but there's something else Shimerman liked about his makeup in particular.
